Maybe by now, you have progressed in your research? The speculation I heard was that the layers might be the result of blue-green algal mats during periods/in places of shallow water. (the Claron formation is interpreted to be lake sediments.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07580884214790202631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5859094080858570248.post-53592335917842524442012-07-15T08:32:41.879+05:302012-07-15T08:32:41.879+05:30Mathias- thank you! will check them out..Mathias- thank you! will check them out..Suvrat Kherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18281172632784780810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5859094080858570248.post-12133605560834167592012-07-15T04:33:56.167+05:302012-07-15T04:33:56.167+05:30It took me a while but I didn't forget. Try checking out these two publications on pedogenic dolomite:

http://geolmag.geoscienceworld.org/content/149/2/291.abstract

and

http://geology.geoscienceworld.org/content/28/3/271.abstract

Platt, 1992 also published something on lacustrine dolomite from the Lower Freshwater Molasse (Tertiary).

I find them very intriguing. I am sorry that I cannot share some other sources that are simply not available in electronic form.Mathiashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02950872285924945887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5859094080858570248.post-37942489024630074902012-07-01T09:25:28.372+05:302012-07-01T09:25:28.372+05:30Mathias- very interesting! do send me a link to f...Mathias- very interesting! do send me a link to freshwater dolomite research if you can.. thanxSuvrat Kherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18281172632784780810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5859094080858570248.post-78887111758781269702012-06-29T02:22:10.676+05:302012-06-29T02:22:10.676+05:30A very interesting topic that offers many exciting...A very interesting topic that offers many exciting fields to work on. Actually, I am working on some kind of dolomite problem myself right now. I don't want to give too much away but if making dolomite in the sea is hard, try explaining it in terrestrial freshwater environments. :)Mathiashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02950872285924945887noreply@blogger.com
